Of course I love travelling and getting to know different cultures and foreign landscapes. But I also have a lot more to offer you which could make travelling with me on Crete worthwhile for you. So let me tell you a little about myself ...
I grew up in Germany, but have lived on Crete for over 20 years.
Since then I have been interested in the history, traditions, social circumstances and peculiarities of the island, its inhabitants and visitors. I have travelled no country better than Greece, I have visited dozens of museums here and read many specialist books about Greece.
It should go without saying that I speak Greek.
I have been working in tourism since my school days and have got to know plenty of people from other countries, whether bikers, backpackers, caravan travellers, botanists or divers. My guests were mostly from the middle or upper class and I learnt a lot from them and with them.
Most of my professional time, especially during the hottest time of the year, I am a passionate SCUBA diving instructor, drive the boat and help with the management.
A successful Master's degree in tourism management has rounded off my background knowledge of organising trips and events and has always benefited hosts, visitors and companies.
My drive for knowledge led me to complete a degree in specialised and non-fiction writing at a German journalism school, which helped me to get even closer to different people and Greece. You can discover some of my works on my blog.
It took a little time before I found my way to becoming a self-employed travel companion. As such, I can combine my passion for people and for Greece, my organisational and mediation skills and even my urge to be active. And there is nothing better for me than to make other people happy with my skills and to realise an unforgettable and rewarding trip for and with you.
And perhaps one of you might even be interested in having me, as an experienced editor, help you write a book, a biography or a diary while travelling.
I would like to describe myself as adventurous, flexible, but direct, professional and friendly, but I would like to ask you to form your own opinion of me and contact me with your questions and ideas.
I am looking forward to getting to know you.
Yours, Dajana Schiwik
